How does it work?
First you need to register. Then you will be able to create a gift wish list for any occasion, and find items or charitable donations to add to your online gift list from any retailer, online or offline.

Does it cost anything?
No. Whatidlove has no hidden charges. It is FREE to set up an online gift list, and to send the online gift list number to your friends and family. When someone buys an item from your gift wish list they will pay for the gift and postage, as usual, with no surcharge, and no mark up on the gift item.

Should you put a gift item on your online gift list for contributions we will charge 6.5% of the contribution being made, depending on the admin and bank charges at the time. (see our terms and conditions for the current figure). This charge will be made when you claim the funds. It will not be added to the amount contributed by friends and family.

What is the Boutiques page?
The whatidlove team has selected some fabulous independent retailers who have put their products on the whatidlove online gift list site, most of which you will not be able to find on the high street, so you can buy or add their items to a gift wish list.

Can I buy items featured on whatidlove.co.uk without creating a gift wish list?

How do I add items from any online retailer?
When you have created your online gift list, go to “Go Shopping” and launch the “Window Shopper”. Follow the instructions on the Window Shopper to add any gift item from anywhere to your gift wish list.

What is the window shopper?
The window shopper is a small window which, when launched, lets you add details (url, description, price etc.) of any gift you would like to add to your online gift list. Simply follow the instructions on the window shopper and the item will appear on your online gift list.

Does every item appear on the list with a photo?
Most websites identify the product photo, or a selection of photos from which you can select one, and this photo is then automatically transferred to the window shopper, and then to your online gift list. There are some internet sites where this is not possible, and a default photo will appear instead.

What about adding offline items to a list?
From your list, go to “Go Shopping” and click on “Shops not on the Web”, and fill in the details required. This means you can add items that are available from shops that aren’t online…the local antique shops, a beauty treatment at you local spa etc. It also means that you can specify non specific items such as a bottle of wine, anything for the garden and so on.

How can I be sure that 2 people don’t buy the same thing?
When someone comes to buy an item from a gift wish list, they must click on the “I’ve bought it” button once they have completed the purchase. Once this is done, the gift item is removed from the online gift list to avoid duplicate purchase. The gift wish list owner will always see what has been bought from their gift wish list, until they choose to delete the item or the list.

Can I delete an item from my list ?
Yes, once logged in, you can manage your gift wish lists. Simply select the item on a list to edit or remove it from you list.

What if I want to transfer an item onto a different list?
Simply select the item from the online gift list on which it appears, click to edit the item, and in the drop down list select the list to which you would like it to be transferred.

What will you do with my details?
Whatidlove is committed to Data protection and has signed to and will not supply your details to third parties as per the Terms and Conditions.

Is the site secure?
In creating the site security has always been a priority. As a result the site is extremely secure. No one can see the items you place on your gift wish list unless you give them the online gift list number.

Can I use whatidlove for wedding gift lists?
Whatidlove is perfect for wedding gift lists as you can add anything from anywhere to your list. You are therefore not confined to any particular shop or retailer, and can compile a really eclectic wedding gift list. You can then notify friend and family of the online gift list number, possibly in the wedding invitations, and they will be able to buy your wedding presents online from your wedding gift list.

What about delivery?
Whatidlove is a gift wish list service and as such sign posts guests to the retailer to buy the chosen item. Retailers all have their individual delivery terms and conditions and charges, and in most instances the purchaser will be able to select a suitable delivery address.

Delivery for wedding couples?
We suggest that you tell your guests where you would like any gifts bought for you delivered. As each purchase is likely to arrive separately, we would advise that you choose an address where there will be someone at home during the day. When you create your list you can add a delivery address so it appears at the top of your list.

How do my friends find my online gift list?
You will need to give your friends and family your gift wish list number. They can then go to the www.whatidlove.co.uk Home Page and simply click on Find a list, and enter the number.

Can I see who has bought me what?
If you look at your gift wish list it will show you which presents have been bought. Next to "bought" items is a "Send" button which will take you to a page where you can generate an email to the gift giver, Here you should be able to identify them and read any message they left. Contribution items don't show who has given what until the cash is "claimed" and the contribution facility is closed. Then the "Send" button appears and you will see who has contributed what, how much and any message they left.

What can I use my gift wish list for?
You can use your gift wish list for absolutely anything, from any gift giving occasion (Christmas, wedding gift lists, Honeymoons, birthday, anniversary, christenings, congratulations on your exams, driving test and so on)…..or you can use the gift wish list to collect in one place all the items you would like to buy for yourself at a future date. People use online gift lists for teachers presents, charitable contributions, multiple lists for young children ,,,so let your imagination go wild.

What if my friends do not have internet access?

Anyone wanting to buy a present from your online gift list can contact us on 0117 9741084 and when they give us the gift wish list number we will be able to access the gift wish list for them, describe items on the gift list and help them to buy the gift over the phone. Back to top

How can I check stock levels and delivery status of an item I have bought?"

As Whatidlove just holds the list on your behalf we are not able to check on stock or the delivery status of items bought sites/ retailers you include on your online gift list. We just signpost your guests to the retailers you have chosen. We suggest you regularly check the stock level of products you have chosen and use retailers you trust. Back to top

Will my gifts all be delivered at once?

As items are bought at different times they will be delivered according to the delivery terms of the retailer from whom the purchase was made. This will mean too that they will arrive at different times so it is advisable to let your guests / visitors to lists know the delivery address you would prefer the item to be sent to, and to ensure that you will be able to receive them/ sign for them).Back to top

How does the contributions facility work?

Our new contributions facility enables users to add larger expensive items, holidays or even Honeymoons to their gift list and visitors to contribute towards their cost.

This is how it works:

The User adds the item to a gift list and ticks a box so that people can contribute towards it. When someone contributes they choose the amount they want to give, use their credit card and the funds go into a secure bank account.

The running total is shown on the list so everyone can see at all times how much has been given, but not who or how much individuals have given. When the User decides they want to claim the funds, they just click the "claim" button and request the money. At that moment the user will also see a list of who has given what and any message they left.

Whatidlove then transfers the money directly into their account less a fee that covers bank charges and costs (See our terms and conditions). Back to top

Do I have to wait until contributions reach the total item amount before I make a claim?

As the gift list owner you can claim the contributions made to something on your gift list any time you like. Once you have claimed, however, the item is no longer available for contributions.Back to top

What if the amount of contributions is insufficient when the date of event arrives?

If insufficient contributions have been made and you would like to keep the item on your list, you can move the item from one list to another so, for example, when Christmas is over, an item could go onto a birthday gift list for further contributions.Back to top

How do I know who has bought items from my gift wish list?

When you go to your online gift list, items that have been bought will be marked as "bought" and there will be a "send" button next to this item. If you click on "send" nothing gets sent, but you simply get to a page where you will see who has purchased the item for you and you are able to compose an email to them. If the item was for contribution, the email of all contributors to that item will be listed for you to send a general "thank you".

What happens if I click on the "send" button next to the items which have been bought off my gift list?

If you click on "send" nothing gets sent. You simply get to a page which allows you to compose the text of an email and has the email of the purchaser of that item already loaded for you to see.

Affiliate earnings?

Just so you know - whatidlove earns income from sites that we are affiliated with, like Amazon. This does not stop you adding products to your list from retailers that are not affiliated with us, we just don't earn anything. We prefer you to have gift lists that really are - what you love!
